Update for the week ending September 30, 2006 Wow – this year is flying by as fast as any I can remember! I met with DD last Tuesday and discussed a number of issues: The Unfair Labor Practice charge that I filed on September 6, 2006 for terminating past practices and MOUs is under investigation. I expect that a complaint will be issued by the Authority, given the powerful nature of the evidence, but I will have to wait and see. I advised her that I had received a response from the Authority’s agent. We discussed procedures with Whiteman Tower. She had given me a letter from Joel Lathon from WHP. I stressed to her that there are a number of problematic issues in his proposed letter and made some proposals. She asked if I would attend a meeting with her and the sups to discuss the matter and I agreed. I presented her with 12 grievances filed by you, the workers. Most were a result of not being paid for CIC duties. We will continue to file on this issue until it is resolved. We discussed other matters that are confidential. Paul Widup asked me how we wanted to bid Regular Days Off and Prime Leave (management seems to want to call it Vacation Annual Leave but that’s still an illegitimate term). I told him that the process they have created is “unholy” and that they have unilaterally changed way too much – I then said leave whatever you feel you can “as-is” and we’ll deal with it later. I met with DD and the sups on Thursday afternoon and we have pretty much finished our proposal to WHP. My aim in this process is to protect us from any procedures that allow WHP to use our airspace without coordination and, to the maximum extent, make that coordination automated. The key is to stay off the landlines. I am poised to file another round of grievances on your behalf regarding your CIC pay. I am keeping close track of this situation and will protect your right to Back Pay when we prevail on this issue. I have had many problems with the office computer on the 4th floor. The Dell machine has a failing hard disk drive. I have brought in a temporary machine from home to fill in until we repair or replace the Dell. This has not helped me to be productive. Some of you have asked me to help you file grievances on the imposed dress standards. I apologize to you for not getting this done sooner. I will get this done very soon. I will send out another e-mail because I want to hear from you about one issue that deals with Whiteman. Take care and be safe. JK |
